Samsung and Q CELLS shake hands to provide ‘zero energy home’ solutions

Published

on

On July 2, Samsung and Q CELLS announced a new imperative partnership that will help the two companies combine their technologies to provide “zero energy home” solutions.

The zero energy home is the only source of energy for energy taken from the home itself. This satisfaction is achieved by both generating energies through renewable energy such as the sun and reducing energy consumption through efficient devices.

Speaking about the new partnership, Jaeseung Lee, president and head of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances Business, said, “We look forward to our collaboration with Q CELLS expanding our presence and strengthening the Samsung brand in global markets. We anticipate great synergy between Samsung’s smart home appliances and SmartThings platform, and Q CELLS’ solar energy and storage solutions.”

Under the new partnership, the two companies will work towards new solutions where Samsung SmartThings Energy service is connected to Q CELLS solar modules and energy storage systems (ESS). This solution would allow homeowners to generate and store their energy and use the SmartThings IoT platform to monitor and improve the energy consumption of their home appliances and heat pumps (EHS, Eco Heating System).

For example, the solution can automatically switch platform-connected home appliances to night-saving energy or cloudy days, when solar energy levels are low.

Q CELLS CEO Hee Cheul (Charles) Kim added that, “We expect the partnership between these two Korean companies to provide our global customer base with even more competitive energy solutions. We are hopeful that synergizing with Samsung Electronics will help strengthen our leading position in the global residential energy market.”

Don’t wait for One UI 6 on these Samsung smartphones

Samsung Galaxy

It’s not possible for any smartphone maker to provide users with never-ending software support. With Android 13, various Galaxy devices ended major upgrade support, and the same case will happen with One UI 6 for some popular Samsung smartphones.

Preparation to deliver 2023’s Android version is already underway by Google. While Pixel users have started experiencing the Android 14 OS through the Beta Program, Samsung didn’t see that side. However, the company is running the One UI Beta Program, which started on August 10.

This year, popular Samsung flagships such as Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series won’t receive the One UI 6. Both lineups have finished their striking era of continuous software upgrades, still, an additional year of security patches is remaining.

Samsung has always remained the king of after-sales services to Galaxy consumers. Presently, the company provides up to four years of major OS upgrades, which will be extended further for the time being. It has also raised the bar of security updates to five years, letting consumers keep their phones longer.

Citing sadly, but don’t wait for One UI 6 on these Samsung smartphones:

  1. Galaxy S20
  2. Galaxy S20 Plus
  3. Galaxy S20 Ultra
  4. Galaxy S20 FE LTE/5G
  5. Galaxy Z Flip – LTE/5G
  6. Galaxy Note20
  7. Galaxy Note20 Ultra
  8. Galaxy Z Fold2 5G

Sizzling era ends at 5.1

Samsung delivered the One UI 5.1 upgrade to all flagship smartphones upgraded to the Android 13-based One UI 5.0. The new version means more new features, and there’s no exception with the One UI 5.1 software system.

Customization is at its peak level on the One UI 5.1 and the upgraded capabilities of Good Lock (and family) make you wow! Screenshots no longer collide with photos captured by the camera and creating a cutout of the object is as simple as copying a text!
