[Expanding] Samsung Galaxy S20 FE gets May 2021 security update in India
So far, Samsung has updated several smartphones such as the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20 series to the June 2021 security patch. At the same time, the company is also sending the previous month’s security patch to the remaining eligible devices.
Recently, the Galaxy S20 FE LTE received the April 2021 security patch in India, and now it’s started grabbing a new software update that comes with the May 2021 security patch. At the moment, the company releasing this update to select Indian variants, which bears build number: G780FXXS3CUE2.
In addition to the security improvements, this release doesn’t bring new features, while the previous software improved the Camera performance and enhanced the Quick Share functionality for better file sharing between Android devices.
Aside from this, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G is also receiving June 2021 security patch update in select European countries, which brings fixes for 47 CVEs from Google and 19 SVEs from Samsung. We’re expecting a broader rollout of this update very soon.
Launched with Android 10-based One UI 2.5 out of the box, the Galaxy S20 FE is currently running the latest One UI 3.1 on top of last year’s Android 11 operating system. However, Google began the Android 12 beta testing, Samsung is missing from the participants of this activity.
On the other hand, Samsung is currently developing another One UI version based on Android 11 i.e. the One UI 3.5. This next One UI iteration will launch alongside the upcoming Galaxy flagships this summer and later on distributed to the eligible Galaxies. While the Android 12-based One UI could come later this year.
