On May 26, 2021, Samsung Display announced that its 9 types of OLED panels for laptops (13.3–16 inches) have been certified as ‘Green Guard Gold’ from UL (Underwriters Laboratories), which is a global safety certification body. It’s important to mention that these OLEDs debuted with the latest Galaxy Book Pro lineup.

As the OLED screens obtained the Green Guard Gold certificate from UL, it also applied on the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360, which were launched late last month. According to Samsung research data, the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360’s OLED displays also reduces the proportion of harmful blue light to 6.5%. It uses new technology to adjust the wavelength of OLED blue light in order to reduce the proportion of harmful blue light in the entire spectrum.

“Technology that minimizes the emission of volatile organic compounds has become an important selection criterion for IT devices. It is a very meaningful step in the pursuit of sustainable technology,” said Doug Lockard, Vice President of UL Consumer Products Division.
