After Exynos powered Galaxy S20 FE units, Samsung is now expanding the latest security patch to the Snapdragon-based models in the US. According to the info, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G UW at Verizon started to receive the May 2021 security patch with a new software update.

In the US, Verizon’s Galaxy S20 FE 5G UW owners can identify this update via build number: G781VSQU3DUE1. In addition to the security improvements, it comes with enhancements for the Quick Share function for easily sharing files to other Galaxy as well as Android devices.

Apart from this, the May 2021 security patch fixes Qualcomm 5G modem’s vulnerabilities that can steal your call details. The changelog also shows other performance improvements so that we can expect it will enhance the system functions and stock apps to increase the overall user experience.

On the other hand, Verizon has recently released the latest security improvements to the Galaxy Note 20 series along with a new Dual Recording camera feature so you can record video with front and rear cameras simultaneously in Split screen or Picture-in-Picture views.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series has started receiving the October 2024 security update in the US. AT&T has rolled out the latest patch for its carrier-branded S24 devices. This crucial firmware update aims to improve system security and stability.

Earlier today, Samsung published the October 2024 security patch details. The company highlighted how significant the October patch is for Galaxies. Shortly after, the company’s high-end flagships grabbed the latest patches.

October 2024 SMR update for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series includes fixes for 2 critical and 28 high-level CVEs. Additionally, the update addresses 12 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items for further improvements.

CVE-2024-44068

Samsung’s changelog mentions only the inclusion of the October patch. Meanwhile, the company highlighted on its security page that it addresses CVE-2024-44068 from the Samsung Semiconductor Division.

The common vulnerability exposure is rated as HIGH leveled flaw, with the description reading “A Use-After-Free in the mobile processor leads to privilege escalation.” The affected chipsets are Exynos 9820, 9825, 980, 990, 850, W920.

How to install:

Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra users can easily install the October patch. Head towards Settings, followed by Software update and Download and install. Ensure connectivity to an unmetered connection for seamless installation.

Samsung confirmed One UI 7 Beta will launch by the end of this year. The Galaxy S24 series is expected to be invited in the first phase of the rollout. The Beta will also be available for general consumers apart from the Developers’ community.
