Samsung Phone App gets Widget support in One UI 8 [Preview]

One UI 8 is all set to bring Widget support to the Samsung Phone app for the first time. Leaked firmware and system APK reveal some of the exciting design and functional changes, letting us imagine the next big upgrade.
Samsung Phone app in One UI 8 could get Widget support. You may be able to check Recent calls right from the home screen without opening the dialer. The app has added two layouts for the widget to be used on the home screen.
I have sideloaded the leaked Samsung Phone (Dialer) from One UI 8 (APK Credits – GerwinvGiessen) on my Galaxy S23 Ultra running the One UI 7 Beta. Although the app is crashing like hell, the Widget can be accessed from the home screen.
The widget optimizes according to Light or Dark display settings. The header mentions “Recents” and the latter part displays the three most recent calls, that too with corresponding types such as outgoing, incoming, and missed through icons.
Recent calls widget will help you stay in the loop with the most recent calls. The default layouts include two options, 2×2 and 4×2, within the Widget section. You can stack the widgets, but there’s no customization section for now.

Samsung Phone App Widgets in One UI 8
Samsung is set to launch the Android 16-based One UI 8 with next-gen foldable phones this July. The company is expected to release the One UI 8 Beta Program early for the Galaxy S25 series and some more qualifying flagships later.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 Beta users receive Stable One UI 7 update in India

After the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung has pushed the One UI 7 Stable update for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 smartphone in India. This update ends the One UI 7 Beta Program for the smartphone in India. The company will expand this update to more countries soon.
One UI 7 stable update for Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 can be identified via One UI build version F741BXXU2BYD9 in India. The update is currently live for Galaxy Z Flip 6 users testing One UI 7 Beta, and the company will soon make it available for all models.
The switch from the Beta to the stable version makes your device more secure and stable. As the beta program has concluded, users will no longer receive new beta software or official responses to their feedback.
Beta users must update to the official version, as there will be no future updates for those who continue using beta binaries after the beta program has ended. To ensure your device remains secure and stable, install the stable update now by going to Settings >> Software Update >> Download and Install.
Currently, the update is available only to beta testers, but the company will soon expand the rollout to non-beta users. Stay tuned for more updates.

Samsung Galaxy S26 could launch with One UI 8.5, not One UI 8.0 [Rumor]

Samsung is rumored to be planning to launch the Galaxy S26 series with One UI 8.5. Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8.0 is already in the rumor mill, to be debuted with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 around July this year.
One UI 8.5 could come with the Samsung Galaxy S26 series next year, as per TarunVats. It’s a wild rumor that was fueled by claims that codes related to One UI 8.0 and One UI 8.5 were found in Samsung’s system components.
That said, the One UI 8.0 may not be a major upgrade, but it will focus on bringing the new OS to Galaxy devices. This way, Samsung would get enough time to develop and test design changes and new features until early next year.
One UI 2.5 was the last x.5 version
Debuted with Galaxy Note 20 series, One UI 2.5 was Samsung’s last x.5 software version. It was replaced with x.1.1 and followed till the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.
Samsung is apparently considering a major One UI reveal with Android version together with Google. A mid-cycle version could come with new Galaxy S phones, bringing design and feature upgrades.
One UI 7 proved a major setback for Samsung due to a late Beta, delayed release and lazy pace of rollout, however, things may not be the same with the future One UI upgrades, starting this year.
