A month ago, we reported about Samsung’s collaboration with Marvell (a US-based semiconductor company) to develop a SoC (System-on-a-Chip) for improving 5G network performance. However, the developed chip will be used in the company’s massive MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) radio.

Now as per the latest info, Samsung with its foundry, steps ahead for a new partnership with SiFive (the industry leader in RISC-V processors) to enable and accelerate the development of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning inference and training.

However, this will be possible with the SoCs based on SiFive RISC-V processors and built using Samsung Foundry technology infrastructure. In other words, the chip will be based on the company’s process technology.

“Samsung Foundry is committed to building a rich and resilient ecosystem with our industry partners,” said Mijung Noh, VP of Foundry Design Service Team at Samsung Electronics. “We are pleased to work with SiFive to accelerate our customers’ AI / ML custom SoC design, illustrating the innovation potential we can achieve together.”

Moreover, after further development of the AI accelerator, the chip will create a heterogeneous compute platform for machine learning that can be tuned to meet the needs of edge AI, automotive, 5G/networking, or data center accelerator needs.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and when the whole industry facing a surge of chipset shortage, it is worth mentioning that Samsung still committed to partner with various industrial fellows. Dr.diary fuels Samsung Health with glycated hemoglobin algorithm

Samsung Health app new features beta update

Samsung Health app integrated the Dr.diary (Doctor Diary) glycated hemoglobin feature. The blood sugar management platform announced the launch of its glycated hemoglobin estimation functionality on Samsung’s Health application.

According to ETNews, Dr.diary announced the integration of a glycated hemoglobin level feature in Samsung Health. Galaxy users will now be able to check the estimated glycated hemoglobin level provided by Doctor Diary.

To activate the feature, Health app users will have to permit certain conditions of data in the Blood Sugar service. It is worth noting that glycated hemoglobin is a key figure for diabetes diagnosis, which users will find worth using in the Health app.

Established in 2017, Dr.diary is a blood sugar management platform. It analyzes and predicts the changes in glycated hemoglobin using its own algorithm. Earlier this year, the firm secured a patent for “glycated hemoglobin estimation based on blood sugar data table.”

Song Je-yoon, CEO of Doctor Diary, said, “With our predicted glycated hemoglobin level prediction algorithm being installed in Samsung Health, more people will be able to recognize their glycated hemoglobin level and manage their health more efficiently.”

Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is a standardized numerical value of the percentage of hemoglobin, such as hemoglobin, which has been glycated by glucose. Glycated hemoglobin reflects the average blood sugar level over the past 2-3 months.

Samsung Health (with Wear OS Galaxy Watch) users can conveniently check their estimated glycated hemoglobin level within the app and use this information to manage their blood sugar levels through diet and exercise.

NVIDIA approves Samsung HBM3 for GPU made for China

NVIDIA approved Samsung HBM3 memory chips for GPUs made for China. Reuters revealed in their exclusive report that Samsung passed NVIDIA’s verification test for its fourth generation of high bandwidth memory chips.

According to the report, the Samsung HBM3 chip secured long-awaited approval from NVIDIA. The greenlight isn’t full-fledged as HBM3 will only be used in a less advanced processor, the H20, designed for the Chinese market, at least for now.

Reuters sources claim whether Samsung’s HBM3 memory chips will be used in other processors is unconfirmed. It’s worth noting that NVIDIA exclusively designs less sophisticated processors for China given US export sanctions.

Pay attention, the company is still verifying the fifth-gen HBM chips. The HBM3E will likely be used in NVIDIA’s latest graphic processor units, like the H200. SK Hynix already got approval and has supplied HBM3E since the beginning of the year.

First produced in 2013, HBM is a type of DRAM that contains vertically stacked chips to save space and reduce power consumption. It’s a key component for AI GPUs, which helps process massive amounts of data produced by complex applications.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Fold 6 Watch Ultra Watch 7 Galaxy Ring and Buds 3 Pro

Following the mega launch on July 10, Samsung today globally released the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, Watch 7, Watch Ultra, Buds 3, Buds 3 Pro, and Galaxy Ring. The products are now available for purchase in around 100 countries.

Earlier this month, the Korean tech giant held a great Unpacked event in Paris. On the same day, the company announced it to put these devices on market shelves on July 24. The new products are integrated with Galaxy AI tech to further enhance user experience.

“We’ve seen significant consumer excitement following the unveiling of our latest Galaxy devices in Paris earlier this month,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.

By integrating the power of Galaxy AI into the newly released foldable devices as well as expanding it to the Galaxy ecosystem, Samsung is continuing its commitment to putting the potential of AI into the hands of millions around the world.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Fold 6 Watch Ultra Watch 7 Galaxy Ring and Buds 3 Pro

The new foldables from Samsung feature the Gemini Nano AI model. It fuels on-device AI capabilities, bringing tons of new useful features. The One UI 6.1.1 software also ensures seamless operations on the new Galaxy smartphones.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Buds 3 series and Galaxy Ring is available globally from July 24, 2024.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is available in Silver Shadow, Pink and Navy. Galaxy Z Flip6 also offers Silver Shadow, in addition to Yellow, Blue and Mint colors.

Galaxy Watch Ultra is available in a 47mm size in Titanium Gray, Titanium White and Titanium Silver. Galaxy Watch 7 is available in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm. Choose from Green and Cream color options for 40mm and Green and Silver for 44mm.

Galaxy Buds3 series is available in two colors, Silver and White.
