Samsung to promote open source innovation with Project Poseidon
Recently, Samsung Electronics said that it will support open source innovation with its own storage platform called Project Poseidon, reports TheElec. If you don’t know, Project Poseidon is the company’s disaggregated storage platform, which is designed to meet the needs of hyperscale server manufacturers and the data center market.
Back in February, the South Korean tech giant said that it has started mass production of PCIe Gen 4 PM9A3 solid-state drive (SSD), which meets the standards set by the Open Compute Project (OCP). This SSD developed with Samsung’s Gen 6 V-NAND memory, which is designed for maximum performance per watt.
It is worth mentioning that Samsung PCIe Gen 4 PM9A3 SSD has a sequential read speed of 6950MB/s, double the performance of its predecessor, as well as 50% more energy efficient.
Along with this, Samsung is also offering the latest version of its own software Poseidon OS, which was released on Github. This “lightweight” storage OS comes with improved performance through optimization of the storage stack of NVMe SSDs. Meanwhile, it also offers software-designed storage capabilities.
Around a decade ago, Facebook started OCP in order to boost the efficiency of its data centers. Later, more OEMs including Intel, Microsoft, Google, IBM, and AMD have also joined the party. However, Samsung joined in 2015, being the only SSD supplier along with Seagate that is part of the group.
Jongyoul Lee, EVP at Samsung’s chip division said:
“Offering the most 1U server-optimized form-factor, the PM9A3 will improve space utilization, add PCIe Gen4 speeds, enable increased capacity, and more. We see it eventually becoming the most sought-after storage solution on the market for leading cloud data center servers, and one of the more cost-effective.”

Samsung has released an update for its Group Sharing app for One UI devices, which can be verified through One UI build version 13.6.13.2. This update enhances the app’s functionality and resolves several issues to provide a smoother user experience.
The Group Sharing app comes pre-installed on Samsung Galaxy devices. It serves as a platform for users to share content across Samsung’s essential apps such as Gallery, Samsung Note, Calendar, and Reminder. It utilizes Samsung account share groups for efficient content distribution among contacts.
With the new update, users can expect a more seamless sharing process and error-free service. However, it does not bring any new features or changes but improves the app’s overall performance.
Samsung Group Sharing 13.6.13.4 update is available on the Galaxy Store with an installation package size of 17.43 MB. You can download the update through the Galaxy Store or from the third-party app source link mentioned here.

Users of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series can identify the April 2024 security update in Korea through One UI build version S91xNKSS2CXD5 and an installation package size of around 366.43MB.
The latest patch fixes over 40 issues to make the smartphone more secure, stable, and reliable. It mainly resolves problems related to Storage Manager Service, Out of bounds write, and more.
You can check the update by navigating to the device’s Settings, then a Software update, and Download and install. If you have received the update, install it now to get enhanced features.
