Back in September 2020, Google finally launched the eleventh major generation of the Android operating system. The Android 11 version comes with major system improvements and innovative features such as conversation bubbles, built-in screen recording, better privacy controls, notification history, refreshed UI, and much more.
In order to bring the Android 11 to the Galaxy devices, Samsung developed the third-generation of One UI, the One UI 3. Starting December 2020, dozens of Galaxy smartphones/tablets have received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update over the air. However, the company is still delivering this major Android upgrade to the remaining handsets that will continue until the third quarter of this year.
On the other hand, Google has already started working to develop the Android 12 version as it released the first developer preview of this upcoming OS. Following its tradition, the South Korean tech giant will also start working on its next iteration of One UI. So, the question is when your smartphone or tablet will get the Android 12-based One UI 4 update? I can explain it with authentic evidence, let’s jump into the details below.
At the Galaxy Unpacked 2020, Samsung revealed its revised Android upgrade policy that promises 3 years of update support for the flagship phones and tablets launched with Android 9 or higher out of the box. Other than the premium devices, some smartphones from the Galaxy A series are also picked to get three Android upgrades.
Aside from this, the company further stated that all the upcoming Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Z, Galaxy Tab S, and select A series devices will also be included in this massive three years of Android update guarantee. It is worth noting that the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 series smartphones are eligible to get one more major Android upgrade that will be the Android 12.
Like every year, Samsung will start working on the next generation of One UI just after the official announcement of the Android 12. It is said that Google will launch the next version of Android OS around September this year. So, we can expect that the Korean tech giant will introduce the developer’s beta of the Android 12/One UI 4 in late September or early October. Besides, the stable rollout may begin in December 2021 starting with the Galaxy S21 series.
