Samsung phones easily beats Apple iPhone 12 in terms of faster 5G in the US

Starting with the Galaxy S10 5G, Samsung launched several 5G smartphones including flagships, mid-rangers, and budgets also. On the other hand, Apple has recently started its journey in the 5G market with its latest iPhone 12 lineup. Meanwhile, a new report regarding the 5G speeds published online but has not come as a surprise.

According to Opensignal, bringing the 5G support to the iPhone 12 series allowed Apple fans to experience 2x internet speeds compared to previous generations while Samsung still beats Apple in terms of 5G cellular speeds in the US.

“In areas where 5G is available, Apple users had overall download speeds 2.3 times faster than the iPhone users’ 4G download speeds.” – Opensignal

Adding to this, Opensignal reported that Samsung phones deliver 20% faster internet speeds than the iPhone 12 series when it comes to 5G connectivity. As reported, all of the leading smartphone brands are using the same Qualcomm modem to access their 5G connection.

“As the U.S. moves ahead with 5G, Apple is narrowing the gap in experience with other smartphone brands. In areas where 5G is available, Apple users see download speeds approximately 18% slower than the fastest brand – Samsung.” – Opensignal

As noted in the report, all of the leading smartphone brands are using the same Qualcomm modem to access their 5G connection, something that Apple plans to continue for at least a couple of years. It is reported that the US tech giant is working to split its need for Qualcomm and build its own 5G modem.
