Google to face lawsuit for snooping on user’s information while Incognito browsing

Billions of smartphone and desktop users use Google Chrome browser for surfing on the web, stay connected with social media, or any other query. Besides, it also features “Incognito mode” that stops Chrome from saving users browsing activity to their local history.

As per the reports, consumers filed a complaint in the form of a class-action lawsuit, claiming that even if they turn on the incognito mode of the Chrome browser, other Google tools used by the site will collect their personal information.

Meanwhile, a recent report suggests that Google has failed to dismiss the case claimed that Google is secretly collecting a large amount of internet data even if users browse in the “incognito mode” of the Chrome browser. A US district court rejected the initial request from the Alphabet department to withdraw the case.

Lucy Koh, US District Judge wrote in her ruling – “The court concludes that Google did not notify users that Google engages in the alleged data collection while the user is in private browsing mode.”

As we know, Google is committed to limiting the use of cookies on third-party websites to protect user privacy and will develop an API called Federated Learning of Cohorts (FLoC), which is expected to replace cookies on the Chrome browser.

Moreover, Facebook tests show that after turning off the personal information tracking function, advertising revenue fell by 50%. However, if also follows Apple’s privacy label function, its advertising revenue is expected to be greatly reduced.
