In the smartphone-driven world, there are still many people who use feature phones. This particular segment of mobile is mainly led by Itel, Tecno, Lava, and Samsung. However, the feature phone market means very little for the Korean tech giant with regards to earning profits as the company’s main focus is to make smartphones.

According to the latest news, the global feature phone market was declined by 24% YoY in Q4 2020, and Samsung lost a 2% share compared to the previous quarter 0f 2020 which was quite good in terms of sales of feature phones, reports Counterpoint Research.

Apart from smartphones, India is also the biggest market for Samsung in terms of feature phones. During the fourth quarter of last year, Samsung secured an 18% market share and landed in the second position. While iTel grabbed the top stop with 22% of the total market share. On the other hand, Lava managed to get a 15% share and come third in the feature phone shipment.

Aside from India, Samsung is the only feature phone manufacturers that got listed in the top 5 brands in the MEA region. But unfortunately, it didn’t perform well in the regions like Europe, North America, LATAM and failed to get in the top 5 feature phone companies. However, for many years we are seeing  Samsung as one of the best smartphone makers, so from this, we can expect the feature phone business will also be good in the upcoming days.
