Samsung won’t introduce its artificial human assistant ‘NEON’ at Galaxy Unpacked 2021
Samsung’s STAR Labs has been working on an artificial human assistant called ‘NEON’. The company unveiled it last year at the CES 2020 event. This AI power smart assistant is capable of answering the questions just like humans. The NEON was expected to come next year along with the Galaxy S21 series and now we got some new information regarding this upcoming AI-based human assistant.
As per the recent Tweet from the CEO and the president of STAR Labs, Pranav Mistry itself clarifies that the NEON won’t come with the Galaxy S21 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event 2021 or any other Galaxy device, and also it is aimed for the business to business as an API that will be available via mobile apps and web services. Unfortunately, this artificial human won’t be available to the general public.

Unlike the other smart assistant, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, or Apple’s Siri, NOEN is very different. It is an independent virtual being that acts like a human which keeps on learning from experience and build memories. It can communicate with humans with all the emotions just like a real human.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) has become an important part of our lives and with these new innovations, it seems to have a bright future in the coming days. Samsung is aiming to enter the ready-to-grow XR market next year. The company has been preparing to commercialize its product for two years. A new report talks about the possible launch and release timeline for Samsung XR Glasses.
South Korea Economic Daily sources revealed that Samsung is aiming to release its Smart XR Glasses in the third quarter of 2025. The company is planning to bring about 50,000 units of XR Glasses for the third and fourth quarters.
The Korean tech giant will challenge Apple’s Vision Pro by entering the XR market. The report says that the company has named this project “Moohan” (meaning “infinite”) and is accelerating its preparations for commercialization.
Rather than a headset, Samsung is said to be developing AR Glasses. It will be significantly cheaper than Apple’s Vision Pro headset. The glasses’ form factor will also push sales thanks to the affordability and portability of the device.
Recently, it was reported that Samsung’s Mobile division will showcase the Galaxy XR prototype during the Galaxy S25 launch. It would be a similar strategy that the company followed with its first Galaxy Ring this year.
An industry insider commented, “With the market yet to fully open, it remains to be seen what kind of innovation Samsung will bring to the table.”
MarketsandMarkets earlier reported that the XR market could grow from $31.3 billion in 2022 to $111.5 billion in 2028. The growth potential is significant as consumer demand for new and convenient IT platforms evolves alongside advancements in AI.
Apple has already entered this market by unveiling its Vision Pro in February this year. However, the field remains highly challenging to penetrate, as seen with LG Electronics halting its XR project with Meta due to technological difficulties.

Availability and Rollout
The One UI 7 beta program is now available for Galaxy S24 series users in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US, starting December 5.
The official release of One UI 7 will begin in Q1 2025 with the next-generation Galaxy S series devices. Over time, it will expand to other Galaxy devices, reflecting Samsung’s commitment to extended OS upgrades.
Samsung seems to have revised its smartphone production target for 2025. Meanwhile, Samsung is aiming to foster Galaxy S25 series production than the S24 series. New input suggests that the production target is reduced by 7 to 8 million.
According to TheElec, Samsung is cutting smartphone production estimates for 2025, but the flagship Galaxy S25 series could be produced higher than the Galaxy S24 series.
Back in October, it was reported that Samsung is aiming to produce 237 million phones in 2025. As per the revised plan, the company has set a production target of 229.4 million.
In particular, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to be produced at 37 million units. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 series is estimated to be shipped 35 million units this year.
It seems the budget and entry-level phones would be produced in slightly lesser quantities. The aim is to maintain a conservative outlook without impacting premium sales.
On the flip side, the report also revealed production estimation of foldable smartphones, as follows:
- Galaxy Z Flip 7 – 3 million
- Galaxy Z Flip FE – 900,000
- Galaxy Z Fold 7 – 2 million
These figures sum up to a production target of around 6 million units. Combining a Fan Edition model, the sale is still estimated at 6 million – suggesting a slow pace of adoption.
The Galaxy S25 series will launch in late January next year, while the foldable devices may debut in July. Samsung is also preparing to introduce a Slim variant of the S25 series, while the launch timeline is uncertain.
