Call Recording arrives on US Samsung phones with One UI 7

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra One UI 7 Beta

Samsung One UI 7 enables a Call Recording feature for US Galaxy users. Galaxy phones already have an auto call recording feature. However, the company barred it on US models due to legal restrictions.

One UI 7 makes things slightly better for US residents who prefer recording a phone call. The way to record calls is slightly different and there’s no option to enable auto call record. Still, it’s a nice development, enabling the feature in the US.

Apple also introduced the AI call transcripts feature with the latest iOS 18 update. It’s the first time iPhones can record phone calls. However, you need to start call recording each time manually you want to record as there’s no automation.

Call Recording in One UI is an OS-integrated feature on Galaxy phones. You can access it right from the stock dialer (Samsung Phone app). In One UI 7, you can only record calls using the call transcripts feature.

First, enable the Galaxy AI-powered Call Transcripts feature on your Samsung phone running One UI 7. A transcription icon will appear when the call is connected, tapping it, you can start recording the phone’s voice call.

The page will notify you that the other person will hear “this call is being recorded” before the recording starts. Once the call ends, expand the contact card to access “View recording and transcript.”

Call transcript brings call recording ability to US users, but it’s a great tool for international users too. Beyond audio-based recording, the transcripts will offer the readable, copyable, and editable text of the conversation held through phone calls.

The new Call transcript feature is available now in Beta of One UI 7. The stable rollout is expected to start in mid-February next year. The public version will be introduced along with the Galaxy S25 series later next month.

Samsung’s One UI 7 Beta lacks support for certain apps

Samsung One UI 7 apps support

Samsung has recently started its One UI 7 Beta Program for the Galaxy S24 smartphones, allowing users to test new features before the official release. While many of Samsung’s own apps have been updated to support One UI 7, some apps are still not compatible, even after the beta release.

A Samsung community moderator has confirmed that certain apps are currently not compatible with Android 15 and One UI 7. These apps include Zoom, payment apps, Google Messages, and Good Lock’s Theme Park. Users may notice some issues when using these apps during the beta phase.

However, Samsung has confirmed that the apps will soon get the One UI 7 support with the stable release. It means that users will able to use the apps properly with the official One UI 7 update.

The community moderator has also apologized to users for the issues they are experiencing during the beta test. The company assures users that these compatibility issues are temporary and will be resolved in the final version of One UI 7.

One UI 7 Beta program allows users to try out new features and improvements before they are available to everyone. However, users should understand that some apps may not work properly during this time. Samsung is still working on fixing these issues, and the final release should provide a smoother experience for everyone.

For now, Samsung encourages users to share their feedback about the beta program, especially if they notice any issues. This helps the company make the necessary improvements before the official rollout of One UI 7.

Samsung One UI 7 Beta animations haunted by Flash bug

Published

Samsung One UI 7 Messages app

Stunning animations of One UI 7 Beta seemingly haunted by a “flash” bug. Samsung overlooked the aspect but the next Beta version is likely to address the problem. Well, it’s great that the first Beta came with no disastrous issues.

IceUniverse spotted this weird flash bug in Samsung’s One UI 7 Beta animations. Many Beta participants reported having the same problem. It suggests the flash bug is a widespread problem, rather than device or region-specific.

Notably, a “flash” issue affects animations in the first beta version of One UI 7. The source highlighted that there are at least three different variations of this bug, suggesting a widespread problem in the beta.

How to Spot It:

  • Open two apps in quick succession (not excessively fast).
  • You’ll notice a brief flicker or flash on the screen.

Video Evidence:

  • [Video 1] In a normal-speed video, the flash can be seen as a quick flicker.
  • [Video 2] In a slowed-down video, the flash is visible as a fleeting “ghost image” of a page around the ninth second.

Samsung took much time for internal testing of the latest software. The Beta went live last week only but some visible issues remain unresolved. This issue highlights a critical area Samsung needs to address to refine the Beta experience.

Earlier, it was spotted that the lock screen blur engine doesn’t function as expected in the first Beta. The notification overlay simply separates itself from the lock screen wallpaper through a White colored layer, skipping blur appearance.

One UI 7 is being praised for its dynamic and appealing interface. As Samsung dropped the very first Beta, things will improve sequentially. If you are facing certain bugs and issues, don’t forget to send feedback through the Members app.
