Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) have announced that they have successfully completed Korea’s first interoperability assessment between the 5G standalone (SA) core and other commercial network systems via the 5G network. This successful outcome brings the two companies one step closer to 5G SA commercialization.
Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom jointly developed, the 5G SI Core supports technologies including network slicing and function modulation based on 3GP standards, as well as additional functions used by operators from LTE, including billing and subscriber management.
The two companies have implemented a number of cutting-edge technologies in the 5G SI core, which are used for interoperability. Technologies include data-parallel processing technology that together handles QoS and transmission control.
Jaeho Jeon said, “The fundamental structure of 5G SA is built on a completely new configuration, successfully delivering the most optimized 5G service to customers and enterprises across numerous industries,”.
The Executive Vice President and Head of R&D, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics. “Maintaining Korea’s leadership in network innovations through continuous investments in next-generation technologies is important to Samsung and SK Telecom, and the companies will continue to collaborate on developing and commercializing 5G SA.”
Once 5G SA is commercialized, data processing capacity will triple, allowing effective control to support large-scale data traffic. The 5G SA system is highly optimized for the next generation of emerging services such as autonomous driving, smart factory, smart form, and AR / VR.
For the past five years, the two companies have been collaborating on the development of LTE and 5G, eventually leading to this successful 5G SI core interoperability test. Some other advantages of the commercialization of the virtualized LTE core and packet optimization system. Based on July 15 last year, SI Core successfully launched its 5G NSA commercial services in April this year.
Google Messages adds waveforms to Voice Recorder UI
Instead of holding down the mic to record, you will now see a panel with a start/stop button and options to cancel, delete, or attach the recording. You will also see a waveform and a timer while recording, and you can play back the recording before sending it.
The voice messages preview will also show a waveform between the play/pause button and the timer, making it more noticeable than the current straight line.
These changes are not widely available yet, but some users have reported seeing them on their phones. These new changes are part of a bigger redesign that Google is working on for Messages, which includes a revamped home screen that is still in beta testing. Google might announce new features soon.
